Inside the bag of Recoi!l guitarist and “Posers Only Podcast” host Tania: local love for Lahhlipop, band merch and being smart and safe with Mace.
PURSE: “I’ve gone into the pit with this. It holds my phone and it’s made of leather so I don’t have to worry about it cracking. My mom gave this to me for probably my 21st birthday.
I used to be that person who had the biggest purse, but I kept leaving shit in it too long: sandwiches, chips, hot dogs.”
KIND BAR: “I hate granola, but I keep it in case I’m starving because you need something in case you get faded.”
PICKS: “I never have picks on me. See how it has a [star] hole? It doesn’t do anything for me. This is probably my show pick that I’m always losing because it’s always somewhere else and not in my guitar bag.”
SMEG SHOT ENAMEL PIN: “I get a lot of compliments. It’s sturdy. This has never fallen off.”
MACE: “I got it from AutoZone. I only get 10 shots. I’ve never had to use it. I think just having it is enough of a deterrent.”
CHOKER: “I got this at a show. It was a woman who was selling all sorts of necklaces and chokers. It has a crystal. She was really cool and she was like ‘Oh, try this on.’ I was wearing this at the podcast that we were shooting, but after a while we were eating and I was like, ‘I don’t want to chew with this.’ We went to eat pho at midnight.”
LOS BRIGANDS STICKER: “We just interviewed them on Sunday. It was cool. They were really funny.
I may have taken more [stickers] than I should have. He gave me a lot to begin with. We put them on the fridges, anywhere. Some people like to put it on cars. I don’t really like that-like cars that aren’t mine. That’s fucked up.”
EARRINGS: “I always go out and I lose my earrings, so I’ll wake up after a night of debauchery and go ‘Where’s my earrings’? These earrings have stayed on. They’re from Bad Dahlia. I like that they’re small because they’re subtle. I’m satanic but you don’t know. If you’re this close, you’re too close.”
LIP GLOSS: “Lahhlipop Cosmetics. They’re local. She does a lot of anime-based stuff. I really like the color.
When I’m playing shows, I want them to see my face. It’s very much like performance art. I probably spend two hours on hair and makeup, and after I play I don’t give a fuck. I rub my eyes.
I don’t wear any makeup at work. I can’t because I’m a chemist and this shit could possibly react with the makeup on my skin. I can’t even have hairspray in my hair. I guess that’s why I go all out when I go out.”
